Candy Cocoa Brownies

Happy Halloween!


With a holiday dedicated to all things sweet and luscious, what is better than a homemade brownie with your favorite chocolate candy? Halloween kicks off the super sweet season and this super tasty brownie recipe will delight all the chocolate and candy lovers! Don't have the candy or don't want 'em? Substitute your favorite nut or chocolate chunks for an extra deep chocolate flavor.


Some brownie recipes you can easily make in a large bowl. You can also use the kitchen mixer with the paddle attachment, when you're feeling lazy and don't want to stand and stir all afternoon. This one calls for the kitchen mixer. Don't have one? You can use a large bowl and spatula. 



 Candy Cocoa Powder Brownies

Oven: 350 degrees F

Time: 30 minutes

Pans needed: 9 inch x 9 inch sqaure. Greased and lined with parchment paper



3 egg

1 teaspoon vnailla

2/3 cup brown sugar

1 1/4 cup powder sugar, sifted

1 teaspoon salt 

2/3 cup veg oil

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all purpose flour, sifted

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 - 12 oz bag of your favorite candy-coated chocolates



  • Fit a kitchen standing mixer with the paddle attachment. In a bowl:

    • ​Add 3 eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 2/3 cup brown sugar and 1 1/4 cup powder sugar.

    • Mix on low speed for 5 minutes

  • In a small bowl, combine 2/3 cup veg oil and 2/3 cup cocoa powder. Add to egg-sugar mixture. 

    • Mix on low for 5-8 minutes, or until super smooth and dark. 

  • In a small bowl, sift together:

    • 1/2 cup all purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 

    • Mix on low speed until combined, 2-3 minutes. 

  • Add half bag of your favorite candy-coated chocolate. Stir with a spatula.

  • Pour into square baking pan. Top with remaining bag of candy. 

  • Bake for 30 minutes. 

  • Eat before / during / after Halloween.
