Who can't deny a tasty homemade scone? Morning or afternoon, a simple scone pairs perfectly with a cup of joe or tea.
This basic scone recipe is easy to add your favorite dried fruit, fresh fruit, nuts, or spices.
Basic Scone Recipe
Oven: 425 degrees F
Time: 18 minutes
Equipment: Mixing bowls, measuring spoons/cups, spatula, bowl scrapper, chefs knife, parchment lined cookie trays
2 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
2/3 cup milk
Sift together in medium bowl:
Using your hand, rub the chilled butter in between your hands, into the dry ingredients
The butter will look like small peas in the dry ingredients
NOW! Add whatever extra special ingredients you desire. Chocolate chunks! Dried cranberries! Walnuts! Cinnamon!
Mix together in a small bowl:
Add liquid ingredients to butter-dry ingredient mixture
Using a bowl scrapper (or spatula) fold all together until a scone form
Divide into 2 balls and shape into round disks
Cut each disk into 6 wedges
Place on parchment lined cookie trays and bake for 18 -ish minutes
Cool. Eat. Enjoy
