Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Cream cheese frosting  is a classic on anything red velvet, chocolate cake, or your favorite cupcakes. What is even better? Layering it between two cookies and freezing 'em. It is a homemade dessert everyone will enjoy, including the kiddos.

 

 

 

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting 

Yields: Approx. 1 1/2 cups

Equipment needed: Standing kitchen mixer with paddle attachment, measuring cups/spoons, spatula 

 

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, soften at room temperature

  • 6 oz unsalted butter, soften and cubed at room temperate

  • 2 cups powder sugar, sifted

Directions:

  • In standing kitchen mixer, with the paddle attachment, add:

    • 8 oz cream cheese, soften

    • 6 oz unsalted unsalted butter, soften and cubed

    • Mix on low-medium speed for 3-5 minutes until combine and frothy

    • Add 2 cups powder sugar, sifted

    • Mix on low speed until just combined

    • Scrape down with spatula. Mix again for 2-3 minutes for until light and fluffy.

    • Use immediately or store in container in the fridge
